The Halle Food Council and the Zukunftsspeisen (Future Foods) initiative invite you to a hands-on cooking event on July 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the courtyard of Moritzburg Castle. This event complements the exhibition Planetary Peasants and focuses on regional superfoods.
Together with museum visitors and other participants, modern street food will be prepared using local ingredients. Everyone is welcome to join in at the mobile kitchen to try out and taste delicious, healthy fast food alternatives.
On the menu: organic rye bread and buckwheat crêpes with various hummus spreads made from locally grown chickpeas, as well as potato waffles with both savory and sweet toppings—cooked and sampled based on what the season and region currently offer.
The event is held in cooperation with local farms near Halle: bread is provided by Sonnengut Gerster in Dietrichsroda, vegetables come from the Biophilja permaculture farm in Halle, and berries from Martin Zschoche’s farm in Repau.
The Zukunftsspeisen initiative aims to make new climate-resilient crops and superfoods market-ready in Saxony-Anhalt and collaborates with regional farms and partners like the Halle Food Council.
Visitors are welcome to join at any time during the event.
