Talks, Performance & Live Music Who Owns Soil and Land?

Mansfelder Straße 52 Salinemuseum Halle 06108 Halle (Saale)

Who is allowed to cultivate land or owns land is a question shaped by historical developments as well as economic and political interests. Is it possible to change the legacy of land appropriation, extractivism, and colonial history towards new narratives? Alongside a lecture by Macarena Gómez-Barris on cultural and artistic movements that are developing radical alternatives, Lara Almarcegui and Yelta Köm speak with researchers who supported the development of their works in the exhibition Planetary Peasants. Antje Meichsner brings a myth of field work back to life. In their audiovisual performance, LAND3C combine artifacts from the Balkans to the Baltics and their club sounds to question cultural affiliation to a country. With further electronic reflections on land ownership and ecology in the DJ sets, the night at the Salinemuseum musically processes the themes of Planetary Peasants.
