As part of the special exhibition Planetary Peasants, shepherds from the European Shepherds Network will gather in Halle (Saale) in early September for a day of discussions, film screenings, and conversations. The program is open to the public and offers insight into the current challenges and potentials of this way of life and the management of the land.
The event provides a perspective on how farmers, despite many difficulties, can mobilize and build political agency. The 500th anniversary of the Peasants’ War serves as an occasion to once again reflect on future measures, such as shaping local legislation, the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy, or the UN International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026.
